Mr.Shenoy, you do have a point in stating that Mr.Dutt behaved in an irresponsible and immature manner for his age. And there are innumerable people around the globe who has borne greater sufferings with grace. I also believe that no one should be above the law. On the same note, India does have bigger fish to fry. Sanjay Dutt did something rather stupid and has undergone 16 months in prison for that. What is the ultimate aim of a "punishment"? What is the purpose? You agree that he is not a terrorist in any form or manner. So what is the message that the judiciary is sending out? On the flip side, is it because of his celebrity status that his case has become a medium for the judge to prove a point? I am working with a person whose child has been kidnapped by the mother to India, and India is now known in the international circle as the "the safe haven for parental kidnappings". All these cases are lying untried, Indian courts are sitting pretty. In the greater scheme of things, aren't there enough criminals in the country to go after? What is the objective of the 6 year sentence? Just a thought.
