But the fact remains that in India, the prosecuting authority would never have admitted to its mistake and dropped charges, and that is why so many undertrials are languishing in filthy jails for years on the flimsiest of grounds, pending the outcome of their trials. Credit must go to the Australian prosecuting agency for being man enough to admit a mistake.
