Madani
by Suresh Menon on Aug 01, 2007 02:45 PM

I have no hatred towards Madani, his friends, his family or his community. I love and respect them as fellow human beings. But in the light of these developments, an element of fear has crept into my mind - and that is for the safety of my near and dear ones and myself.

To keep a community pleased and garner votes, the government is compromising the security of its citizens. They should show the spine to call a spade a spade. That Madani has fanned communal flames through his speeches is no secret to Keralites. Still we have legal loopholes, and politicians' ample support and he is now scot free to plan and implement further communal problems.

Does the government headed by a puppet of a PM think that the loss of life to a few thousands (and means of livelihood to their dependents) is not reason enough to lose sleep? Where is the affirmative action or at least tough words against extremism? As about Kerala politicians the less said the better. They don't give a damn to people's life or health. Just look at the epidemics spiralling out of control and the daily dose of gruesome accident deaths on the roads. Welcome to Gods own country.

All in all, any hope that my place will rise above all these is but a glimmer raring to fade out.
