Naland - A dream Reconstructed in Contemporary India
by D goel on Apr 24, 2007 01:18 PM

Panchkula Afternoon 1250.,PM,Tuesday, 24th April, 2007.
Well the very Idea that we are on a reconstruction of Dreams Run be it the Great images Taxila, Vikramsila or Nalanda , Nagarjunisagar of an arrested civilization as on the marauders interventions in early 13th century
with vandals ( our Islamic hordes )torching classrooms , dorms , lecture-rooms and collected palm-leave manuscripts in hundreds and if not in thousands makes cold shiver / creeps run down one's midriff. Ah! this fate, why we suffered ? a tragic historical nemesis eight hundred years ago? Are we once again not running the risk of
being torched out of cultured renaissance forged after English created socalled contempoary India out of feuding castes, tribes and narrowminded local Zamindars who would not unite ,and would rather be hanged and fettered in isolation than develop a common -front to remain Indian and free Indian. After 250 yrs. of Plassey and 150 yrs. of Ghadar ,it appears we Indians are back to be dissolved into local chauvinism and tribalistic caste, Kin and kindred in XXIst century, once again, to return to virginal fertility of this love of Localism eating the very possiblity of a contemporary Indian Civilization that could vibe and express the great truths of Amitabh, Gandhi or Shankar and Kamban or Bhavbhuti , Mira , Tulsi or Tiruvalluvar or Subramania Bharati or Rabi Thakur and Nirala...Varahmihir ,or Srinivas Ramanaujam,Satyen Basu , Khurana or Abdus salam...Raman...We are the epigoni of a great society fallen to Philistinism.D.
