India - The light of the world
by Vijay Ram on Apr 24, 2007 11:23 AM

India was once the light for the whole world. Over many centuries this status was eroded until it was barely visible by the end of the 20th century.

Now finally, India is beginning to rise again and it is time for it to embrace the world in its warmth as it once did.

Nalanda must admit students from all over the world. It must also have an internal cast of teaching and administrative staff, so that it is recognized as a gift of India, but a property of the world.

Every graduate of Nalanda must be given PIO rights so they can visit the country when they wish and spread its message far and wide.

A long term plan must translate Nalanda into only the first of a series of universities built on the four corners of the country that symbolically as well as practically, returns India back to its universalist past. Taxila is in Pakistan? No matter, we will build a new one in Punjab.
