Comment on SC declining to vacate stay on OBC quota
by ritwik banerjee on Apr 23, 2007 07:56 PM

Our political parties including the present ruling party Congress(who claims to carry out a key role in our freedom movement) have no intention to raise the educational standard in our country, but, their only job is to use the minority/backward community as vote bank. I am surprised to see that no political party welcomes the Supreme court order about the staying the OBC quota reservation. To hide the fact that the qualified students will get severly affected by the quota reservation, the govt cliams also to increase the number of seats. But, it should be remembered that the becuase of pay structure and some other reasons, the teacher-student ratio in most of the central universities are below the standard and the increase of no. of seats there will only intensify the problem. I am a student of Statistics and I feel that the profiling students based on their caste have a high misclassification probablity of classification, if a discriminant analysis is carried out. I conclude that govt and all political parties, in order to draw more and more votes, are ready to encourage corruption in education system, even to the extent of developing a caste-based educational system.
