The weakness I think lies with the standard of US negotiators. They do not know how to play the ball on their side and now seek elevation to political level. Isn't handling of US politicians their responsibility? Why they need Indian negotiators to talk to their politicians to just maintain what they have already agreed to? Uttering pious words about Indian being good and sincere is simply silly. This 123 agreement would bring US, EU closer to not only India, but also to Russia and many other third world nations. It would be a major stablising factor for Israel while it seeks resoution to its vexed situation. Terror war would receive a much need impetus by legtimising US effort, since the erstwhile 'victims' viz Indian and Russia would be on the same side. Making undemocratic Pakistan an ally in terror war in not exactly convincing to Americans themselves. The soft and hard power projection of India and its deep historical reach to clarify to the vast populace grappling with hate induced terror instillation, specially in the subcontinental context, need not be underestimated. The consummation of the 123 deal and confirming Indian inclusion to NSG would signal precedence of law over all other interests. Strengthening International Law is the best anti-dote to terror which is basically anti-law.
