Dancing ban
by ashok leyland on Apr 21, 2007 10:31 PM

Dancing and music express joy. Life in Pakistan is going to be very very sad if spontaneity is banned.
I beg to differ from Maulana Aziz: Pakistan was NOT created in the name of Islam, it was divided from India to give a Muslim leader (Jinnah) a place to rule. To do this unecessarily millions were massacred on the Punjab/Sindh border and in Bengal, artificially creating a muslim majority in Pakistan and the present Bangladesh.
That itself should be reason to make dance and song part of life there to overcome yet remember the sorrow of the loss of human life due to this hideous political decision.
Maybe he should remember that the very people who brought Islam to the India of his forefathers too, were the Turks and Persians whose courts were full of song and dance and drink (grapes were unknown in India till the Muslim invasions.)
