RE:Realty of NRN
by Niranjan Halady on Apr 14, 2007 03:37 AM

Mr Kapoor,
You seem to be determined to defame Mr Murthy. You need some education on the facts. I advise you to think 100 times before you try to write something about a diginified personality like Murthy. Let me answer your points:
1. Do some home work before you write. He never said, his wife should not work. All he said was only one of them should work at Infosys. He is a man of great integrity. It is understandable that he didn't want either of them favouring each other in the company.
2. Yes. it was a fact. His father could not affort do pay Rs.75. He was a school teacher in 60s.
3. He was against reducing IIM fees to 30000, because it does anyway help poor. Alternatively, (you can still find the news report in google), he recommended having scholarships for poor students to cover the fees. Again, do your home work. IIMs were spending 4 lakhs per student, but charging 1.5 lakhs (at the time this issue came up)on each student. 2.5lakhs per student was paid for by taxpayer ! Isn't it ridiculous. You expect a taxpayer like me to pay for your IIM education, so that you take up $150,000 job in the US or join some multinational company in India ? Grow up man !
4. He was a communist. He learnt the hard way how communism can impact people (train incident). Very few people learn as they grow. Give him the credit for it.
5. This is a false allegation. You can be sued for it. Sudha murthy looks after Infosys foundation, not sudha murthy foundation for your information. Whatever infosys donates, it goes thru Infosys foundation.
7. I am not sure if you are in IT industry. IT engineers are paid unreasonably high salaries. When you are paid high, you are expected to contribute. This is true in any high paying job. Nobody asks you to stay beyond 5. People stay for their own future benefits - some people do, because they cant meet the expectations, but still want high pay. This is true with any s/w company.
6. This is like Vajapayee speaking in Hindi in UN, though he can speak in English. I am not saying it is right. But dont be fanatic about language. Language is for communication. In Murthy's case, obviously he knew that his guests wont understand, if he plays national anthem in an indian language. It is just another way of looking it. He just wanted to treat his guests with respect.

I guess, people are trying to gain cheap publicity by criticising an eminent personality, while ignoring his tremendous contributions to the growth of India. IT industry is driving India's growth today. Understand it and learn to credit people for what they are worth.
