Secular CD
by Jambunatha Radhakrishnan on Apr 12, 2007 05:56 PM

Let AHAD and Shabna Azmi (I think Shabnam Hashmi is different) who has married already a married man preach that this country to be truly secular should have a common Civil Code. It should proscribe polygamy, polyandry, No Talaq except by court proceedings, Mother to be guardian for a minor child after the father. widow to have equal rights with her children in her husband's property, No trust to be created which reserves any personal rights to the trustee's nominees or heirs, all gifts to be registered to be valid, No oral gift permissible, Transfer of property Act to be amended to provide for private sale of even a Mohammedan's property if provided in the mortgage deed. If all these things are done AHAD Can claim this country to be secular. Secularism now is only vote bank politics.
