The article, claimed to be witten "unashamedly from an American perspective" - a claim made by the two authors - cannot mask the fact that the two authors are of Indian origin. Their long stay in America or their being part of an American think-tank cannot obscure the stark fact that their perspective, while civilisationally congruent to what India stands for, does not adequately capture the true intentions of American global strategy. While we are not against any meaningful partnership with America, especially given the Chinese perfidy time and again, let no one in India ignore that while India bellieves in long-lasting relationships and values, America's use for friendships is only to further its strategic interests and prevent the rise of potential challengers. The authors have failed to even mention the spectre of global Islam, which is a civilisational challenge that threatens to overwhelm all vestige of civlised human life on this planet. The propensities for any Indo-American alliance or partnership remain limited so long as this ambivalence about Islam (and terrorism) and our response to it, born out of worshipping absurd notions of politicl correctnes, continue.
