The people at the helm's goal is to reap in votes from these castes and community and continue to rule the country. It is childish to argue that the country do not have a list of people belonging to creamy layer and hence the reservation must be caste and community based. Which means the people who enjoyed the benefits will continue to enjoy and the people who are needy will starve for decades and may not know that we have so and so reservation for us and schemes for utilize and grow. Indians have an excellent opportunity, to rise above caste and community and get united, if the government realizes this matter of fact, that the reservation should be based on economically backward classes and reach poor people. By doing so, they will hit two mangoes in a single stone. Eradicate poverty and abolish caste and community by providing relief to economically backward people. However, the politicians are so bothered about saving their skin and accustomed to divide and rule. One of my friend returned from US asked %u201CWhy US is so developed?%u201D I had numerous answers. But my friend said, US had leaders like Kennedy, Roosevelt who saw US beyond their personal wishes and planned for the benefit of future generations. They developed infrastructure, business, and healthcare. They had issues also such as racial discriminations. They fought for the right of the people and as a result, it is really heartening to see Obama (A first black) is leading the race for president of US. Indications are that, he will be elected for at least vice president though not president, if democrats win handsomely. Roosevelt and Kennedy are said to be real leaders. The simple reason, why they rise beyond their personal wishes, is that in US, the president cannot be elected more than twice. This means, no way that you can appease people for short term benifit, to get re-elected and keep the chair for decades. But in Indians democracy, the Politian%u2019s are so thick skinned to keep their chair for so long, since there is no bar on re-elections. The suggestion here would, the law have to be amended to make sure that any politician should resign after being CM/PM for not more than eight years. I am not sure, whether this will solve the issue. But it is good to start with. It is really pathetic to know that the Indians really lack leaders. The above said law can be enforced only by a leader who sees India beyond his/her personal commitments. Do we need to wait for such leader, whether he/she has born already or not? Whether India will have one such? Time should answer. But average Indians have to wait with fingers crossed.
