Shame on anyone defending Anand Jon, in the face of mounting evidence, from OVER 20 YOUNG WOMEN IN 3 STATES, that he exploited, sexually harassed, verbally abused, and physically attacked them. Have they read the torrents of postings, on sites across the internet, from girls describing how he flew them out to LA and New York, then pressured them for sex?
Anand Jon's is a classic case of blatant exploitation of vulnerable young girls as free labor, on the fictitious promise of "modelling careers?"
Would any of his own extended family, or anyone defending him, send their own young daughters or sisters to intern, or model for, Mr. Jon?
And as far as allegations of racism go, let's ask ourselves this: Suppose a white American "designer" moved to India, actively recruited young Indian girls of 15, 16, 17, over the internet with promises of modelling careers? Suppose he flew them from remote parts of the country to Bombay and Delhi to meet him. Suppose he then made aggressive sexual overtures towards them, verbally abused, threatened and intimidated the ones who turned him down, used them as free labour for his fashion business without paying them even basic living costs? All these are known and undisputed practices that were the norm for Mr. Jon, before any allegations of rape were brought against him.
Wouldn't we all consider such a man a truly ugly, greedy, exploitative criminal? Wouldn't we all clamour for him to be held accountable for his actions?
To suggest that we should defend Anand Jon because he is Indian is an insult to all desis. He falls in the same category as Prasad Lakireddy, the Californian landlord who made a fortune out of trafficking human beings from the subcontinent for sex and cheap labor.
