Some of the respondents need to scrutinise
by Palakkadan on Apr 08, 2007 07:14 PM

I have gone through the messages posted here and realised majority of the suggestions are against the reservation of socially backward communities (27% OBC reservation). I am also not in favour of community based reservation; Money also should be taken into account. I want to bring your notice to some unnoticed persons. They are unprivileged! Their voice is very low%u2026..almost difficult to hear! They even don%u2019t know plenty of laws made for them! They don%u2019t know they have the right to use road to walk! They are unaware that they are also having the right to vote! They are unaware that they are also citizens of India and eligible for the rights of citizens!

They are under privileged! They don%u2019t have voice!!

Everybody would like India to be emerged as No. 1 economy in world; but that should not be done by sacrificing the lives of the underprivileged ones in our villages. You can build big dams but should not deny the basic rights of the voiceless citizens of our country. Dams on Narmada river and recent attack on villagers in west Bengal for building factory are some of the examples. Millions suffer in Narmada project. The persons who suffer are voiceless. Medha patkar become the voice of them in this context. That is the importance of MedhaPatkar who raised voice against Government in Delhi, State governments and other Dam beneficiaries. Do you understand the real danger of the inhabitants along the River Narmada? They face homeless situation. They face non-job situation. Will it be a small issue if a government servant lost his job without any significant reason? In Narmada, there are millions who loss their beloved things. Their needs are not known as they are voiceless. Here the people find it difficult to understand why only smaller amount of people support reservation. The answer is simple%u2026. they are not even in a position to understand whatever your column suggests%u2026.so should I find any reasons why they do not respond? So there are plenty of underprivileged communities existing in India who are certainly needing reservation. If the persons who attend here oppose it by their strength in number is not the real cross-section of opinions of the citizens of India!
