There is a subtle difference in democracy of the powers vested in each of the above branches of government. While the parliament passes legislation, the executive carrying out the same, the judicial exercising the rights and wrongs of the system. While the Prime Minister advised the judiciary its 'Laxman rekha,' the Chief Justice equally reminded the chief ministers of such division. Since the Indian constitution is a written document, the Indian judiciary also observes the laws of natural justice, and as such it draws the lines of the executive exceeding its parameters. I can see the reason for the Prime Minister making such statements, because the judiciary has recently censured the government for its ultra vires actions. The judiciary should always be independent and not be political.
