in 1967 after Anna came to power there was a famous incident. A partyman came to Anna and said there was a Multi-millionarire Industrialist wanting to meet and talk to him. Anna called the partyman and said "we are in power to serve the millions of downtrodden people and not the big industrialists, remember that always". If people want a government for the rich and elite, they can vote for it.. DMK has always been a party for the poor, vulnerable and downtrodden since Anna's days.
