Nandigram and after
by Viswanath menon on Apr 05, 2007 05:55 PM

Buddhadeb Battacharya , CM of Bengal has already admitted his mistake and apologised for the incident. As such the matter should be treated as closed. however since his polit bureau members talk in defferent way I want to add some thing more. Since the incident had taken place with the knowledge of party members and workers Karat group should keep mum or should not comment more on this subject. so called secular minded parties do not want to see this as massacre but as an isolated incident as they cannot play vote bank politics. communists always show their highhandedness whereever possible. look at Kerala where CPM student wing will interfere in almost all government affairs as if there is no law and order. Daily killing takes place in norht Kerala where CPM and BJP fight and this has become a routine.
CPM came to power in Kerala in 1957 with a promise that they will impliment land reforms where tillers became land owners overnight, but other promise of 10 acre ceiling per indivudual remain yet to be implimentd. result original land lords became beggers in front of their tillers. Still people hold more than 500 to 1000 acres land and these rich farmers get maximum benifits from government but avoid to pay any taxes.
A truth that what you preach while in opposition cannot be implimented when in power.
