Narasimha Rao and his rule seems to be at odds with the current congress regime and it's leadership. There is no liberalization in any case. India went bankrupt due to the megalomaniac designs of nehru and indira for three decades where they dilly dallies between "third world" and moscow, and economy had to make a change there after for it to survive which rao rightfully did. It would have been another disaster with another gandhi at the helm.
