Reservation & Supreme Court
by Ram Sharma on Apr 02, 2007 09:51 AM

Reservation should be purely on economical backwardness rather than caste or religion. Moreover during promotions only merit should be the criteria. Some politicians want the benefit of reservation to go to creamy layer, which is illogical. Clearly these corrupt politicians want these benefits to go mainly to creamy layer only (probably they themselves are part of the creamy layer) and not to the really needy people. DMK & Leftists, I thought were rationalists, but sadly it is not so. I also used to think in the sixties that slowly we shall forget castes, but the politicians, specially starting from V P Singh on all India scale (earlier it was limited to Tamilnadu), have made caste a big issue for creating various vote banks. They are not sparing even the Supreme Court, which has been doing excellent work, like making Delhi a clean city.
