looking at the bigger picture
by Vamsi.Y on Oct 06, 2006 12:32 AM

It's quiet depressing, seeing a state that paved the way for reforms in IT industry and is leading the Indian IT boom ,reverting back to olden days .I am big fan of promoting the regional languages in schools but just banning schools which teach english is not the solution to the problem in hand .Doing that would be like ,sitting in your well and thinking that's how the world looks . I might be slightly harsh ,but the truth is that the world is changing and we have to prepare the kids accordingly ...that can be done by making the schools teach kannada along with english ... well one might say that never happens ,I studied in a school where both of them were taught and its possible, atleast from my experiences ...

Banning english teaching schools doesn't make students to learn kannada...it infact makes them incompetent in english which will affect them as they grow and go places for jobs....

Finding the right proportion between the two languages will certainly help the cause. our leaders should stop looking at every issue with a political outlook and should infact learn to see the bigger picture because decisons made today are going TO MAKE DIFFERENCE TOMMORROW(KID's Future).
