This is an interesting topic to comment on but I think this does not relate only to Kannada but to all the States in India...English gained lot of popularity and became very essential language world wide...so there is no need to invest our thinking to support english and to shout "ENGLISH IS VERY IMPORTANT AND EVERYONE MUST KNOW ENGLISH"..lets think about our India now..and how we are going to support our languages and our community...if you look into other countries, everyone gives the top priority to their culture and promotes their culture and languages..in this context..what we Indians are doing to support or promote our tradition..even we are forcing our kids to call us "MOM & DAD" instead of "MAA and PAPA".. Learning foreign language is good and always encouraged but we must give equal priority to our local languages so that we are identified as nation which is a repository of traditions and values..
