Do we care for our wildlife ?
by Capt. Ajay Puri on Sep 22, 2006 05:31 PM

It is very strange that in our country which has plenty wildlife reserves and sanctuaries, wildlife is treated with utmost cruelity.
People throng to zoos to see the hapless captive animals, but same are killed in jungles for their skins or hair or feathers and none of the people object. In fact same are freely sold and all officials are hand in glove with the traders.
Steve Irwin , a wildlife activist, who recently died with the sting ray attack while filming ,was a real crusader of wildlife who made people believe on various channels be it National Geographic or Discovery Channels that wildlife itself is a beauty and gift of nature.Without wildlife it will be a concrete jungle where man will be slave of machines.
It is sad that we lost a very able wild life activist and wish that his torch should be held high.
