Haj Subsidy
by V.Ramakrishnan on Sep 18, 2006 09:35 PM

How it helps an Indian Muslim by performing haj. Does it improve his moral standards or he becomes more pious. Recently the minister for Haj affairs, Govt of U.P was in the news for travelling with his coteries, in a Ist AC coach, with out tickets. This man is also a Haji and he had threatened the checking staff with dire consequences.Earlier he had put money on the head of a Dutch cartoonist for alleged blasphemy. This is the standard of an Indian Haji. Is it necessary to subsidise such scoundrels from the tax paid by me. It is high time we become practical . There is no need to go on haj to mecca by Indians on government dole. Visiting Babri and other Mosques is adequate. If some body is bent on performing haj he should do it with his resources and not spread hands. IF you see the perpetrators list of bombay and other blasts you find many are hajis. Since the hajis are not working for the betterment of Indian nation but come back with a narrower view point, the govt should stop subsidising Haj tourism from poor tax payers fund. Madam and her congress party can give money from their individual or party funds, which they have amassed considerabley during the Nehru dynasty rule
