The general was certainly with the Taleban and Paki terrorists coimg to Kashmir & may still have sympathies with them, but he has no choice due to US pressure, attacks on him by Jihadis, control of Pak territory by Jihadis where Pak military lost 800 soldiers fighting them & a general trend among people of Pakistan against continuing hostilities with India. Ironically he also has the support of Jihadi parties in his govt. & often tries to compromise with them. Pak was also rated 9th failed state recently due to its own internal problems & divisions (Punjabi-non-Punjabi, Shia-Sunni, Baloch, Afgans, tribals, Mohajirs), military & air-force fighting with its own people in its own territory, etc. So it cannot continue with Jihadism if it is to survive. That explains the Pak statement on Pope's quote about Prophet Mohd(PBUH). Unknowingly the Pope is making things difficult for internal problems of Pak. So cooperating to fight terror is mature and timely but we need to stress on sincerity form Pak. General may not want it, but fundamentalism is not going to die in Pak tomorrow and even his army and ISI colleagues will continue to support violence in Afghanistan & Kashmir for some time.
