One of the recent news programs during the 9/11 anniversary here in US has been about the negligence of the city officials and the EPA in properly assessing the health hazard around the ground zero site, following the collapse of the towers. Infact, a number of people involved in the clean up activity at the site have been affected, including the then deputy mayor of NY city. At least 2 deaths are believed to be of direct consequence of the health hazard at the site, and a number of other people are suffereing from a variety of respiratory illnesses, from brochitis to cancer. Most of these findings are recent, in the last year or so. Though I am not sure if the debris material had been tested recently, but I can't help but wonder what the findings would be if we did the same. -Srinivas
