Creamy layer should be excluded
by V S Chakravarthy on Oct 26, 2006 01:06 PM

Reservations are being enjoyed only by the affluent and influential amongst the SC and ST's for 2/3 generations. The plea that creamy layer should not be separated as there is social discrimination is is totally farcical because if reservations are not able to remove social discriminations then why continue with it in first place. These so called social discriminations will continue wherein a doctor is referred to as an SC doctor who had come through reservation till the point the SC and ST creamy layers continue to avail of reservation benefits for their wards. Once the creamy layer has got a financial status and is able to provide for the good educational and other facilities they should stop claiming benefits under reservation and allowing their future generations to compete openly then obviously the so called social discrimination will not be there. All the political parties have made reservation as the only panacea for upliftment of downtrodden while denying all other basic needs. Once the creamy layer is removed then the government of the day will have to work hard and come up schemes so that the real downtrodden SC/ST/OBC are able to educate and avail of the reservations
