Recent outbreak of dengue and Chikungunya exposes the inefficiency in our Public health system through out India.
I was born and brought up in Tamilnadu. I moved to United States in 1997 . I live in Philadelphia with my wife and 2 boys.
I know four cases in my family and friends circle who were affected. One became fatal. My friends wife in Chennai was affected by Dengue and she died within three days at a very young age (early thirties). This happened about 5 years back. In another Dengue case, my cousins daughter was admitted to ICU in a famous hospital in Trivandrum. Due to early diagnosis she was cured by expert doctors. This happened about 3 years ago.
Recently my friend(Chennai) and uncle(Nagercoil) were affected by Chikungunya and they are recovering.
Government needs to step up the efforts involving all parties. Political parties need to stop the blame game and work hard to help the people fight this problem.
Stagnant water and open sewage system cause mosquitoes to breed easily.
Ultimately human beings are responsible for Mosquito related problems.
