Chikungunya & Dengue
by Krishna Kanth on Oct 10, 2006 08:57 PM

My family members stay in Hyderabad, AP and most of them (5 out of 7) are suffering from chikungunya. They have been infected with this virus 3 months back and still suffering from the effects of the virus. Currently as there is no cure for this, they are depending on Ibuprofen, Paracetamol for relief from the joint and muscle pains, that are caused because of the virus.
Since the virus has spread to the "political capital" (Delhi) and "health model state" (Kerala), have the authorities taken interest in "showing" their concern to this virus.
I am sure that this is all because of the negligence of the health authorities, state authorities and the central authorities in controlling the virus. To make sure that these kind of health hazards dont happen across the country, the health officials at all levels in the affected states should be expelled from their posts. This will make sure that these kind of "negligence" does not happen in the future and that the current/next generation is saved from the mistakes committed by few government officials
