Peace will prevail. Stop cow politics
by Santosh Kumar on Oct 08, 2006 09:26 AM

It is really shocking such communal violence happening in a city like Mangalore. As far as I remember last major violence happened after Babrji Masjid demolition. After that there is no much violence leaving some minor instances. Off late, we are experiencing the influence of Bajrang Dal in the city and this is causing all the problems. Ban on cow slaughter is one of the reasons for it. We never heard of any violence due to cow slaughter till this was banned few years back. Not in the last 35 years that I have been living in Mangalore.

Mangalore population consists of 50-60% Hindus; rest 40-50% consists of Muslims and Christians. Everybody has a right to do what they want and what they want to eat. Why ban cow slaughter? I don't understand. Muslims don't is pork meat that doesn't mean you ban pigs being slaughtered. Let people of Mangalore decide what they want to eat. Politicians / political parties cannot decide what people of Mangalore should eat. Do not impose a ban on and fight for silly things and harm this rather peaceful city. Though Mangalore people are highly educated, but people who indulge in such communal activities are uneducated people and doing this under the influence of political parties.

If Mangalore has a dominant minority population why shouldnt they support the minorities? Do not blame minority community or government policies against minorities.
