China plays hard ball with India
by labrea on Nov 17, 2006 09:20 PM

China desperately wants India's formal recognition as a market economy, while India needs China's support for UNSC memebrship and, as a member of the NSG, her assent to any Indo-US N-deal, and other matters like global energy prospecting etc. Dr Singh must not allow these issues to lead him into the dragon's trap - getting India's backing and support while reneging on theirs, always promising but never quite delivering - always keeping the Indians the supplicant, while being the benevolent benefactor. And, while good relations is most welcome, China will never accept India as an equal partner in anything, espcially as a hegemon in S/Asia or anywhere within their 'sphere of influence'- keep that in mind. Remember, China isn't the only one who can play hard ball - two can play the same game.
