Why is the South doing well
by Amit M on Nov 22, 2006 10:01 AM

Very interesting and well researched, but not a satisfactory answer to the title. I would say that Bangalore is doing well inspite of itself. The value proposition Bangalore offers to overseas investors is still large enough to offset the other numerous shortcomings. To say that, "Indeed, I would claim that Bangalore is giving Mumbai a run for its money as the First City", is quite a ridiculous claim. Mumbai works, at least money talks there. The local trains, even though crowded, are on time. Electricity, barring those flood times, is reliable. Shops open before 10 and stay open after 10. One does not have to miss a day of work, even to move house. The airport looks like an airport, not like a flying school hangar. It doesn't take 5 years to build one flyover. People have purpose and are on time for appointments. And just to clarify, I'm a born Bangalorean and have been for the past 27 years.
