Interesting article. I do concur with the author in some of the aspects. I feel that there has been an under emphasis on the effect of foriegn invasions. We have to realise that there was a sustained effort on part of the foriegn invaders to destroy the culture and civilization of the north, the so called BiMaRu states, once shining beacons of our culture, being case in point. This manifests as the "indiscipline" we see today in these states. Many of the original ideas from north-south interaction is preserved in south. Also the south was lucky enough to be spared of the trauma of partition. Second, the proximity of the terrorist state, makes the northern part more vulnerable to terror attacks than south. The north is more threatened even today. Given these advantages, it is my humble opinion that south hasn't performed as well as it should have.
