Violates equality
by Sriram on Nov 01, 2006 09:50 PM

The fact - that this law has been enacted - itself is a proof that there is somebody in this country to think of women. But there can never ever be any law in favour of men, in spite of all the difficulties they face with women. This law conveys an impression that only women are subjected to domestic violence, but not men. Are men always on the wrong side and are women always on the correct side? The anti-dowry act has been misused one million times so far, and I am sure the number of times it has benefitted really deserving people is less. I mean it has been more often misused than correctly used by deserving women. Many unscrupulous women find it extremely convenient to walk down to the police station and complain against her husband and in-laws. Men harass women, but does the reverse not happen? Majorities harass minorities, but does the reverse not happen? I am opposed to any laws or any measures in favor of any particular group such as males, females, religious groups, caste groups, the so-called minorities and the so-called backward classes. Let everyone be equal at least in the eyes of law. All laws in favour of particular groups were misused and will be misused in future.
