Accord in Sri Lanka

As a first step towards making the South Asia free from any foreign powers, India should diplomatically engage with the moderate Tamil groups and the Sri Lankan government towards a settlement to the ethnic problem.

India should maintain the momentum of gaining the status of a regional power, generated as a result of the Indo-Sri Lanka agreement of 1987, to achieve its goal of securing a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council.
