The insensitivity of the UPA government is evident from the fact that despite innumerable debates & discussion on the TV & other media & the resignation of two members of the National Knowledge Commission that have clearly said that reservation based on caste lines in inadvisable, the government neither wants to implement the creamy layer policy nor include the economically backward people irrespective of their caste. Even Dr BR Ambedkar, who was the proponent of reservation system, said that the reservation should not extend beyond 10 yr. If the system is existing, rather thriving, even after 6 decades of independence, it means that the successive governments have failed to address the root cause. They have been myopic in laying down short-term policies for their political gains.
4. Although unacceptable to politicians I have a suggestion: Implement Reservation System to the extent of 49.5% in all govt(Not Private) institutions. Restrict the benefit to 1 Generation to Group A & B employees & for 2 Generations to Group C & D employees & their equivalents in Public Sector Undertakings. Let it continue for half a century & stop at the centenary celebrations of our independence.
