The real intention of Quota politics as used nearly by all political parties is for votebank purposes and keeping the people divided on caste lines.In no way such politics has helped integrating the society.
The real bacwardness is the economic backwardness and that runs across all sections of society. If any affirmative action is needed , it should be only be on economic basis. If so called OBCs are more econmically backward they will automatically get represntation through such affirmative action. This will stop division of society into various vote banks as sc/st,obc,minorities, forward class etc. and lead to integration.
Govt. should also provide low interest student loans for needy students and add additional colleges and seats for higher learning.
