I agree with you on all points except the last one. Strikes & so-called 'french leaves' are of course unforgiveable, but holidays or leaves taken due to family/ religious functions/ reasons are part of the work-life balance in our country.
Even in west & the 'developed countries', people do take leaves, isn't it? Why put the blame on us Indians alone?
