Thanks Gopi for being so selfish
by Dr K Saravana on Jun 09, 2006 06:28 PM

After enjoying the benefits that the state provided to Gopi when there was virtually no competetion when he entered elite institutions, it is his turn to become a turncoat and prevent others from enjoying the benefits. Does he know the privileges enjoyed by Forward Communities at selections made to elite institutions like AIIMS at even the resident and senior resident levels. I do know that many reserved candidates find it difficult to compete academically with Forward Community Candidates, but i also know that almost all Forward Community Candidates who come out of elite institutions do not stay back to serve their motherland and talk about mosquitoes, lack of power, inability to comprehend the rural atmosphere, etc, when you ask them why they flock abroad. Almost all the doctors whom i Know have come out of AIIMS and have gone back to their peripheral roots are these so called reserved candidates. Merit is good, But if you make rural service compulsory and enforce it, I am sure these antireservationists will run helter-skelter.When you provide people from underprivileged communities an opportunity, they are very likely to go back to serve in areas where their service is required.
