That is because they have slogged their lives out and come up the hard way, not through the back door. I have seen children of doctors and engineers come up in life and also be utter failures and I will tell you about my case. Being brought up in a BRAHMIN family (and I am very proud about that), my father was just a graduate and my mom is not. Me and my brother are both engineers INSPITE of the screwed up Indian education system. We competed on our strength and came up in a meritorious way and did not beg for freebies, or neither did anyone dole out seats to us or let us in thro the back-door. BTW, do you know that in the engineering admission forms, your father's qualification and mother's qualification are not asked. Perhaps, if you ever fill up one of them, then you will know.
