The step our president has taken is morally, ethically and legally valid. and the Indian constitution leaves it to his judgement.people's support is with him. Only our politicians differ in their opinion and its anybody's knowledge what their motives are.
Whatever definition "office - of - profit" is given, it is better if such posts are held by non-partisan people than those who are active in politics. and there is no dearth for such eminent people...retired academicians can do an excellent job there. Our president is a standing example of how better things can be in efficient hands.
if our MPs and MLAs are particular about these positions (though they draw no salary from there), let them quit their legislative posts and avoid this controversy. It is always their choice. As for the analogy of British MPs, there is no need of applying all their practices here. if we go by that...we might also have a parallel monarchy here. Is anybody ready?
Lets hope that the government doesnt re-send the bill. Because given a choice between our parliament (or our assemblies)and the president, our people are with the president. Hope our parliment realises this before any drastic moves.
