The new face of War
by An Aam Aadmi on Aug 01, 2006 10:00 AM

The essay is notable in highlighting the changing face of the modern war.Gone are the days when large armies faced each other in remote battlefields.
The new face of war is clearly the destruction of the nation by targetting the scientific, intellectual, and economic assets. This war is fought by men who have the deepest access to the state's resources and having mastered the art of overcoming obstacles, are ruthless and single minded in securing their objective.
Mr Dhar's analysis is timely but who can wake up our somnolent leaders and the people charged with the responsibility of waging the struggle with these faceless enemies.
We need new weapons of all kinds, we need dedicated soldiers who can repay the enemy in the same language. Moreover, we need perceptive leaders who can comprehend the complex processes involved in fighting this war.
The doctrine of terror as an instrument of war is like a cancer, precisely because it converts our own citizens to destroy our own people.
It is necessary then to identify this "cancerous" tissue by innoculating the body politic appropriately. The suggestions of the author are timely.
