Reservation Policy
by R. K. Mohanty on Jul 28, 2006 09:03 PM

It is a sad cmmentary on the administration that every time the Supreme Court has to come in to ensure the right over the wrong. Any body with a bit of common sense should be able to understand that the meaning of reservation is that if the qualifications /performance in the selection process are comparable between a general category candidate and a scheduled caste candidate, then the SC candidate gets the preference. But if he/she does not have the required qualification , there is no question of his/her getting the job or the promotion in preference to a general candidate. Moreover, it is long overdue that the reservation policy as existent in the present set up must be scrapped altogether. Merit, and merit only should be the criteria for any job or promotion.Enough is enough. No more reservations.
People in the economically backward category should be helped in getting proper education and training irrespective of their caste and creed, and only if they make themselves competent, they should get jobs.
