India-US Nuclear cooperation
by kjayaraj on Jul 27, 2006 06:06 PM

Its heartening to see that US Congress recognizes India\'s uniqueness and true nature of being a mature and responsible international nuclear power.

At the same time...the following statement in the article...\"make the deal with India and get for the United States and the international community a window in perpetuity into 2/3rd of India\'s nuclear facilities and all of its future nuclear facilities, under safeguards, in compliance, transparent\"...seems to be different from what our Indian leaders have been propagating/informing the common public. I remember seeing a media report of a senior Indian leader which mentioned that \"all of future Indian nuclear facilities will not come under IAEA regulations and India has the discretion to decide to keep some of its future nuclear facilities not under IAEA control\"

The opposition is making such a hue and cry only because the whole bill is very unclear to all of our citizens.

Let the government come out very clear on all the aspects of the bill and ensure that the nuclear bill does not pose a threat to India\'s future nuclear missions and India\'s foreign policy.
