backchannel proposals
by prabhakar_gatade on Jul 24, 2006 03:34 AM

If what MrKasui says has an iota of truth it is a sign that realpolitik is overtaking , as it should. In my last comments on this matter I had commented that when we could talk with China, despite all the injustices heaped by it upon us, we should also talk and continue taliking with Pakistan. Let us meet if only to blab, blab, blab. While his insinuation that if India hears some unusual noise even during deep slumber its jerk reaction is that it must have been made by Pakistan may be true it is Pakisan which is largely responsible for this complex as can be seen from the past In any case even if the neighbour;s intrepid child is apt to throw stones when it feels that nobody is looking on the only permanent solution to it is to talk with the neighbourer seriously and not to create a scene. When even the Poles are melting we should not be cold to the thaw that has set in our relations of late.Dean Acheson used to say that a nation on our border is our potential enemy. But that does not justify to leave the neighbourhood.Pakistan tried it by migrating to the Western camp but soon realised that that does not make much difference.Ir ia a indisoluble Hindu marriage. We have to live together
