Yes we need to be ruthless, but not mindless
by Amit Shesh on Jul 13, 2006 07:44 PM

I am completely with the author that India needs to be ruthless with the perpetrators of this terrorist attack. India should stop bending over backwards to pakistan just to appear as a peaceful victimized nation to the rest of the world. This is our problem and we need to take the initiative in solving it. How can we convince the world of the evil designs of Pakistan if we ourselves choose to act on it in the lamest of ways? Pakistan does what it wants and still manages to hold USA in its pocket. What are we doing?

Having said that, it is indeed wrong to say that the terrorist has absolutely no rights. I agree that human rights are extended excessively to such elements, but to say the Geneva convention does not apply to terrorists is being as brash as the US is. Some may say that is what taking care of its citizens means, but the author should be reminded that the rest of the world, even a lot of Americans do not think so.We don't even need to go as far as that--what happened to Masood Azhar? We had him captured, we kept him in jail for 5 years without prosecuting him! We could've easily prosecuted him and hanged him! What did we do? Nothing! Punish those in hand first!
