Ruthless Vengeance backed by a Strong and United Society
by Giri Girishankar on Jul 15, 2006 03:31 AM

(Continued from the earlier Message of the same title)

What have the above elements to do with addressing terrorism? (See my previous message)

A divided country fighting among its numerous factions is an attractive target for the malicious neighbors. Indian history has a number of instances to demonstrate this fact. When open warfare is not possible in the modern context, the way to carry out this maliciousness seems to be ruthless and inhuman terrorism. Indias politicians give the general impression that they are interested only in their local and selfish partisan objectives and would not hesitate to play opportunistic political games, including religious and communal types. This has the effect of dividing the society and creating a weak nation. I do not see a selfless leader on the Indian scene that rallies the people behind a national cause. This is the biggest drawback of our political system.

If there is a Mahatma Gandhi anywhere in the country, please rise to the occasion.
