There is so much anguish over the death of hundreds of people at the hands of terrorists. But death at the hands of terrorists is quick. It is instant death. Compare this with the slow and constant humiliation that Indians suffer at the hands of the bureaucracy and the so-called civil administration. Indians have to kneel down and stretch their hands so that they can be caned. They have to show their backs so that they can be whipped. It is not clear which of the two lacks civility and humaneness.
