AIIMS issue: Striking docs, police clash
by Rajinder Katoch on Jul 07, 2006 09:36 AM

It is again a sad day, when the autonomy of the AIIMS was questioned. Dr. Venugopal who gave his precious 40-years was removed from his post undemocratically. A whip of king was used by Dr. Ramadoss who if educational comparison is done stands nowhere near Dr. Venugopal. Why he is not checking patients now?

Now, the main issue of strike. Please note that the public outcry against doctors has no meaning. Doctors too have right to strike. In this present case they are forced to strike and goons were sent to threaten them.

Public must understand this that doctors are not made by public funds. They study in school, top from their schools, on the basis of merit get admission in premium institutes like AIIMS and not on the basis of share in population. This reservation has resulted in failure of medical services in Bihar and UP and that is why patients from far Bihar and UP come down to AIIMS for treatment. Dr. Ramadoss is actually helping OBCs of Tamilnadu to get subsidized medical education. To support AIIMS striking docs, all faculties of IITs, IIMS & Govt medicos must immediately resign. Striking docs should be given Z category. Rajinder Katoch
