There is a logical reason for everything happening in the religion. Some of the logic does not apply in modern times and should be changed. It was a custom that Sabarimala temple can be visited by girls before they reach puberty and women after menopause. It was an arduous journey going through jungles before. It used to take several days for reaching the temple. The journey was through treacherous terrain with wild animals. It made perfect sense that if women develop their period during this travel which is highly possible given the hard journey, they cannot complete the task and will be stuck in jungle and . But now number of kilometers to be travelled by walking has decreased drastically with vehicles taking us almost within 5 kms before shrine. People jump on to criticize hinduism at the slightest possible way. Hinduism is not bound by any particular book or leader or god. It is flexible. During different ages, there were different books and different customs. People are given flexibility to choose and follow their own path to liberation. The liberty given has ben wrongly used and is used as is the current controversy.
