The politics in Karnataka
by Sunil S Chiplunkar on Jan 19, 2006 09:35 AM

It is truly sad, that people in Karnataka do not enjoy a set of good politicians. This in spite of Karnataka having illustrious community, technical and business leaders. The current drama orchestrated by Deve Gowda and his family is causing much anguish to people of Karnataka. The electorate's sentiments be damned, getting the CM gaddi seems to be the most important goal of our politicians at any cost. In this 'kichdi' situation, development will further suffer and the infrastructure will take another round of beating ultimately causing much hardship to the common man. It will be wiser if the Governor on some grounds dissolves the legislature leading to mid-term elections. This will also put a sense of discipline in politicians. In fact, it is high time that a new law is made that prevents such changes in Govt with out mandate from people. The Govt put in charge at the first time should be allowed to continue for full 5 years or the legislature should be dissolved leading to fresh elections - such should be the law of the land.
